360: A Call for the Breaking of Silence

“The fact there are injustices occurring nationwide that involve people of color is a normal and everyday occurrence. As long as it doesn’t involve me and I just see the news reports on CNN and MSNBC is enough to concern me but not really enough to make me take action. So then days, weeks, months and even years go by and I still see all these deaths, horrible acts of violence and the outspread epidemic of systematic and perpetual racism happening -- damn, I should post something on Facebook or tweet something about it because i “kind of care”. Black lives matter, this newly funded organization has just been created . You know, they could be our ticket to bring change to America and maybe the world. I’ll show i care too not just by tweeting and facebook posts, but i’ll start adding the new #blacklivesmatter thing.”

-- the people of now

And this is how it is. That is the mindset that most people have while others do not care at all. The example above was one on how people wait on heroes to change the world, when, for as long as the world's been around there has always been pain, hatred and greed for power which manifests as violence and control over a people or nation. While people wait on heroes, they are doing little to nothing to actually help the cause except for tweets and posts. Then you have those who couldn’t give a damn because “they’d rather not think about it” or “it’s too much to think about.” Inevitably the reality of the world in it’s current state is too much to take in and depressing to the look-- but while the elite and powers that be continue to perpetuate the motion and wave of hatred, they are succeeding and accomplishing their goals everyday. What are we doing? Not caring or waiting for superman? Then, you have the people who know and are aware that if people don’t act now, then it’s over, -- foreal. They understand they can be the heroes of today in their own mind and they have the common sense of when they see something wrong, they will fight for what is right.

Society and people degrade because people don’t care--because they’re afraid, they’re lazy and/or they are too comfortable. What they don’t realize though is that they, by doing nothing, is what will destroy and alter the future. A future of pain and suffering not only for them, but for everyone else. Do you not understand that everyone to an extent is upheld to a responsibility--a calling? A calling to fight for what is right and to put your life on the line in the face of danger for the the sake of many. Now I am not saying that is what you are going to have to do in this case of fighting against the system; however, the people or ‘martyrs’ as they called them, sacrificed their freedoms and sometimes their lives so that the future could or would have hope. To those who do nothing and wait on heroes do you not know that your silence against injustice has held you accountable? Do you not understand that by your actions of silence and fear you are not only jeopardizing yourselves or the future but the lives of the heroes that fight for you? Why? Can you not comprehend that the scale of those who are silent and fearful outweigh those who are verbal and will gladly fight injustice?

For the wages of silence and fear is a bleak future where the silent and fearful live. But the wages of fighting injustice and speaking out is a future of hope where injustice is dead because truth killed it. If the heroes are gone because they gave up themselves in the name of freedom, where are you going to be? Not caring? Then your future, your children's future, and your childrens' children's future is already gone. There are those who hate the truth--those are our enemies and they are our challenge. However, our challenge is not just the hate of some but the silence of many. There really is a fine line between cautiousness and cowardice but to the silent ones--you’re posing a greater threat to the future than the powers that be are because since you outnumber the heroes, your countenance is greater . And with that, you could potentially change the tides to our favor and only then will we be able to begin to battle injustice and save the world.
